Working closely with local authorities and regional conservation organisations enables Sussex Peregrine Study to collect valuable data which would otherwise be overlooked.
Climbers here are preparing to retrieve an addled egg from a Peregrine eyrie. Research is carried out under the appropriate English Nature licence and any eggs recovered are sent to the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (formerly the Institute of Terrestrial Ecology) for analysis.
CEH measure egg shell thickness, check for development (should the egg be intact) and analyze for chemical residue levels.
