At this point in time, Sussex has a healthy population of Peregrine Falcons and it is possible to see them anywhere in the county, if you are walking on the downs, or even visiting Brighton or Chichester city centres you will have an opportunity to see these fabulous birds. Pictured above are four young Peregrine chicks (courtesy of Graham Roberts) at Chichester Cathedral. During the breeding season the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) show live pictures from the nest in the Cloisters Café and it's free to visit. Wherever flocks of Starlings gather to roost in winter, you have a chance of seeing the birds of prey that hunt them, Sparrowhawks and Peregrines are regulary seen near the piers in Brighton and Eastbourne.
